I love Mars.....don't you?

Me with my sick t-shirt after the show

I have recently become OBSESSED with 30 Seconds to Mars, or rather... Jared Leto ;-)
Lets face it, who doesn't like the sexy rocker with a big heart and an old soul?
They are currently on their 'Hurricane' tour around the world and I was lucky enough to acquire some tickets to their show in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I can not even begin to express the emotions I felt that night standing in the crowd and pelting out their songs along with thousands of people!

Damn he is tooooo sexy!

I've always been a fan of the band, but I don't think I ever truly appreciated the quality of Jared's voice or the way each instrument is on queue at every precise moment.
I was interested to find out more about Shannon Leto (jared's brother) who plays drums and Tomo Milicevic on guitar, so I did a little google-ing. Turns out Tomo is a qualified culinary chef as well as an accomplished violinist!!!

Standing on a podium in the middle of golden circle.

Getting the crowd going!
Shannon on the other hand, is Jared's older brother and has been playing drums since he was a child. He has admitted they practice as a band-on average, 6-7 hours a day! This alternative rock band is definately doing something right as it's hard to believe that frontman and actor-Jared Leto is pushing 40!

Up on the big screen.

I love this picture! The light is hitting all the right places and that lone person...

Not only are they making waves for winning awards for their music recently(Mtv music awards 2010, Madrid) but their controversial new music video, or short film for 'Hurricane' has captured the public's attention! The creative mastermind of the script and set is Jared himself, saying that ''if i was not in this band I might be in a mental institution'' can pretty much sum up the nature of the video's content for someone who hasn't seen any version of it yet. I simply can not get enough of this band, I have taken to following them all on twitter and will continue my stalkerish ways for some time to come :-D

For more info on the band and their tour dates, see their official page for 30 Seconds to Mars or their personal Twitter pages.

Feeding the imagination

One of the first things you should know about me is that I love to read! I've tried every genre imaginable... but I don't care much for action, periodical stories, war stories or times of struggle and hard-ship. I prefer fantasy, comedy, mythology, romance and the type of books that make you use your imagination. Call me crazy for wanting to escape reality, but don't we all have those moments? I was obsessed with the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling at one stage and read each book no less than twelve times. I must say, I have moved on to more age appropriate novels. I have a strange addiction to Marian Keyes books at the moment. She's able to be hilarious, dramatic and real all at once. I truly envy her skills and ability to write something fresh. My favourites so far are: 'Anybody Out' There and 'Last Chance Saloon'! I am in the process of reading 'Watermelon' and I can't wait to read her latest book 'The Brightest Star In The Sky'.
Off to read some more...Toodles ;-)
